We redesigned the pattern segment root. We used a large arc transition of R≥3mm. We chose a tougher mold steel. The customer used the mold for 8 months. They inspected it. No cracking. Also, our double V-shape labyrinth parting line kept sand out. The clamping was still tight. The customer ordered 10 more sets immediately.
